INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

Why Should Consider Increasing Your Affiliate Commission Rates

Commission rates in affiliate marketing demand careful calibration. Set them too low, and your affiliates might lose interest; set them too high, and your business’s budget could take a hit. Striking the right balance is key. Here’s what you need to know.

Why Commission Rates Matter: Commission rates function as rewards for your affiliates’ hard work. Low rates might deter potential affiliates, while high ones might strain your resources. Hence, it’s crucial to comprehend their significance.

What’s the Norm? Typically, the average affiliate commission rate ranges from 5-30%. It’s wise to align your rate with competitors’ while keeping it lucrative for your affiliates and sustainable for your business.

Influencing Factors: Factors like product price, market demand, and the structure within your niche impact commission rates. Hence, understanding your industry’s dynamics is vital in this respect.

Tailoring Commission Structures: Customizing your commission structure based on your product type and market can be a game-changer. Consider recurring commissions for long-term benefits and tiered programs to motivate different affiliate tiers effectively.

The Competitive Edge: Regularly assessing competitors’ commission structures is imperative. If the market demands it, don’t shy away from adjusting your rates to keep your affiliates engaged and motivated.

Increasing Your Rates: Three Compelling Reasons

Raising your commission rates can give you an edge over competitors, attract top-tier affiliates, and ultimately improve your brand’s exposure through heightened affiliate engagement.

By maintaining a delicate balance between attractive rates for affiliates and manageable expenses for your business, you’re poised to maximize the potential of your affiliate marketing strategy. Keep your rates competitive, and watch your business soar.

An Amazon Drone Delivering In A City Near You

Amazon has just gotten FAA approval for delivery drones as it begins testing in Arizona. The approval is for a new smaller, quieter drone unveiled in November 2022.

According to Amazon, the FAA’s approval also includes permission to fly the MK30 over longer distances and beyond the visual line of sight of pilots. Something similar was also given to Amazon’s Prime Air program back in May, however, that was only for flights in College Station, Texas where Amazon has been testing the program. This is the latest step in a plan announced by Amazon over a decade ago by Jeff Bezos, founder of the company.

Amazon said they are planning to start ramping up with drone deliveries and operations around Tolleson, a city west of Phoenix, after shutting down a previous testing center in Lockeford, California.

This seems to be great news for Amazon Prime Air which has faced many regulatory roadblocks as they’ve been trying to lift off the ground, alongside many missed deadlines and layoffs with cost-cutting efforts by CEO Andy Jassy. In the same vein, the program lost some key executives, like its primary liaison with the FAA, hiring David Carbon afterwards to run the operation.

While it looks like steps to help move the program forward have been made, there are still many issues to tackle for Amazon. Residents around College Station have made enough complaints about the noise level that the mayor mentioned the concerns to the FAA. Amazon has said they would identify a new drone delivery launch site by October 2025 in response to these concerns.

Russia Fines Google An Unreal Amount Of Money

2 undecillion rubles – that’s a 2 followed by 36 zeros. That’s the amount that Russia has fined Google after refusing to pay fines that are now accruing for blocking pro-Russian channels on YouTube. The Kremlin has decided that they want the tech-giant to pay up. At just $110 trillion, the entire global economy looks tiny in comparison.

TASS, Russian state media, has reported that a court had ordered Google to unblock pro-Russian channels, many of which have been blocked since 2022, or else face fines that doubled every week. A spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, admitted that he “can’t even pronounce this figure right” but stated that the figure was “filled with symbolism.” Google “should not be restricting the actions of our broadcasters on its platform,” he added.

When asked about the fine by an American media company they stated, “Civil judgements sthat include compounding penalties have been imposed upon us in connection with disputes regarding the termination of accounts, including those of sanctioned parties,” Google said. “We do not believe these ongoing legal matters will have a material adverse effect (on earnings).”

Since the full scale invasion of Ukraine, Google has scaled back ints operations in the countries stopping just short of pulling out completely. Many of its services, however, continue to be available in the country like Search and YouTube. Months after the invasion the Google’s subsidiary in Russia filed for bankruptcy and halted many of its operations after its account were seized by the government.

Higher Protein Intake Helps Keep the Weight Off

According to a study, researchers found that a higher-protein diet helped promote weight management by reducing levels of a particular gut bacteria linked to intestinal fat absorption. They also noted that reducing levels of specific gut bacteria via higher protein intake could promote sustained weight loss after dietary restriction.b Researchers analyzed higher-protein diets on energy expenditure, which was noted to be higher than subjects who were not on the diet. From further tests, they found that it decreased intestinal fat absorption as well.

Dr. Tonia Vinton, an assistant professor of Internal Medicine said, “This study suggests that after a short period of dietary restriction – such as intermittent fasting or very low-calorie dieting attempts – a high protein diet may prevent weight [regain] by increasing Lactobacillus gut bacteria, which [limits] intestinal lipid absorption.”

In addition to these benefits, a high-protein diet has already been shown to preserve lean body mass during the active phase of weight loss, which promotes overall health and quality of life. Diet isn’t everything, however, so here a few more easy tips in conjunction with it to help keep that weight off:

  • Eating less processed foods

  • Eating more fruits and vegetables

  • Walking at least 8,000 steps per day

  • Knowing your calorie needs, and tracking calories using a food app

  • Cooking at home instead of eating at restaurants.

These could be some crucial tips for after that large Thanksgiving meal coming up, an absolute killer on many people’s dieting plans.
