Looks like digital advertising is making its way back. Companies involved in digital advertising saw significant sales growth last quarter, driving momentum for the U.S. stock market ahead of the 2024 election.

After years of volatility stemming from the pandemic, it looks like the global ad market is finally starting to stabilize this year. Investments in generative AI ad products, an influx of political ad dollars tied to the upcoming U.S. election, and healthy consumer spending drove strong revenue and profit growth.

The market for digital advertising looks to be on the rise, so get your engines ready for the next ride.

INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

Calculating And Optimizing Your Affiliate Marketing Conversion Rates

You’re already tracking your ROI, profit margins, and other KPIs vital to your business. But are you giving your affiliate marketing conversion rates the attention they deserve? Let’s dive into why these metrics are your new best friends and how to optimize them for stellar results.

The Why: Conversion Rates as Your Business Compass

You’ve got affiliates with varying conversion rates—some hitting 8% and others barely scratching 1%. The higher the rate, the more you should focus on that affiliate. Low rates? Could be a sign of foul play. So, tracking conversion rates isn’t just smart; it’s essential for your business’s health.

The What: Conversion Rates vs. Click-Through Rates

Don’t mix up your CRs with your CTRs. Conversion rates show the percentage of visitors who take action on your site. Click-through rates, on the other hand, indicate how many clicked your ad to land on your page. Both are crucial but serve different roles in your marketing strategy.

The How: Calculating Your Metrics

For CTRs, it’s simple math: clicks divided by impressions. For CRs, it’s conversions divided by total interactions. If you’re not a math whiz, don’t sweat it. Tools like Google Analytics can do the heavy lifting for you.

The Fix: Optimizing Your Rates

Speed matters. A slow website can kill your conversion rates. So, optimize your site’s speed and consider A/B testing to find what truly engages your audience.

The Multi-Channel Approach

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Use multiple channels to promote your products, but remember—each platform has its unique vibe. Adapt your content to fit the platform’s purpose.

Conversion rates are more than just numbers; they’re the pulse of your affiliate marketing program. By understanding and optimizing these metrics, you’re not just playing the game—you’re winning it.

Fed Closing In On Target

According to a Commerce Department report, the annual inflation rate was 2.1% at the end of September.

While the Fed uses more than just the PCE readings as indicators, it is their primary inflation gauge meaning that the inflation rate is closing in on its target of 2% annually. This rate has not been achieved since February 2021, and the September headline rate was down 0.2 percentage points from August.

As this report comes out, markets are still betting heavily that the Fed will cut its benchmark short-term borrowing rate during its meeting this week. The agency already slashed rates by half a percentage point in September, which is almost unprecedented during an economic expansion.

Even with policymakers expressing confidence that the target will be reached they have still shown concern over the labor market, even though current evidence shows that hiring is continuing and layoffs are low. As of Oct. 26, initial filings for unemployment benefits totaled 216,000, a decrease of 12,000 from the previous period. The forecast was 230,000, leaving unemployment well below it. There was also a separate report that reinforced the notion that companies are mostly hanging onto their workers.

The Commerce Department also reported that income and spending held up during the month with personal income increasing 0.3% and consumer spending rising 0.5%. Both of these metrics either were in line with predictions or outperformed the outlook. In addition, the personal saving rate moved down to 4.6%, the lowest of the year.

TECH

Apple Intelligence Comes To iPhones

Got an iPhone 15 Pro or 16? Well, Apple has just released iOS 18.1, an update that includes the company’s artificial intelligence for both devices. It’s called Apple Intelligence, and the release is a critical milestone for Apple and will play a huge part in the marketing campaign for its new iPhone 16 released last month.

To start, the technology will be limited. The first wave will include features like writing tools that can proofread or rewrite text, remove objects from photos, and a feature that can summarize a stack of notifications into a single message. The release also comes with an update to Siri, including a whole new look. The update does not allow Siri to take actions inside of apps, but that feature will most likely come later this year.

“Given the staggered launch of Apple Intelligence, we expect iPhone demand to pick up post initial release of Apple Intelligence in late Oct,” said Bank of America Securities analyst Wamsi Mohan in an Oct. 25 note.

So now that it is out, how can you get it?

You’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 to install and use Apple Intelligence. You’ll also have to ask for access to Apple Intelligence in the Settings app, which puts users on a waitlist. During the test, users typically gained access within the same day. After being accepted, your phone will begin to download large files – Apple’s AI models – that Apple Intelligence needs to operate.

When Do I Need To Take A Supplement?

Eating a balanced diet gives your body energy, vitamins, and minerals for overall health. Absorbing nutrients from food is best, but adding supplements can help if diet alone falls short.

Today, we’re diving into the world of dietary supplements. You’ve seen them—those branded bottles promising better health, more energy, and even a longer life. But do you need them?

First off, let’s talk food. A balanced diet is your VIP ticket to a health utopia, offering a smorgasbord of vitamins and minerals. So, always opt for a variety of “food first” approaches. Why? Your body prefers to absorb nutrients from your food, period.

The Supplement Spectrum: Who Needs What?

Now, onto the nitty-gritty. Supplements are your plan B, stepping in when your diet drops the ball. But before you go to your local GNC or supplement store, ask yourself, “What’s my endgame here?”

  1. General Population: Vitamin D is your go-to. Especially if you’re in environments where the sun plays hard to get. A daily dose of 10 µg should do the trick.

  2. Over 65s: Think calcium. Your bones will thank you. Calcium promotes bone health. Older adults may need supplements if a diet doesn’t provide enough.

  3. Veggie Lovers: Plant-based diets may lack omega-3s for brain health. Omega-3 is your brain’s best friend, so it is crucial that you’re supplementing your body with it.

  4. Baby on Board: Folic acid prevents neural tube defects early in pregnancy. 400 micrograms supplementation plus folate-rich foods is recommended. Folic acid is non-negotiable here.

  5. Gym Rats: Protein and calories fuel muscle repair and growth from sports. Protein and calories are your gym buddies. But consult a dietitian before you go overboard.

  6. Post-Illness: Supplements may help if illness impairs nutrient absorption. If you’re bouncing back from an ailment, your doctor might recommend a supplement. Please listen to them.

While a balanced diet provides essential vitamins and minerals, supplements can fill in gaps, especially vitamin D. Talk with health professionals about safe, beneficial supplements for your situation, because supplements are not a one-size-fits-all solution. Tailor your choices to your needs, and always remember to consult a healthcare professional.
