6 decades after the civil rights battle raged in America, protestors finally have had their arrest records cleared.

Simon Bouie was arrested in 1960 for sitting at a whites-only lunch counter in South Carolina as a part of a sit-in protest. Along with six of his friends, each was arrested and marked with a record for their act of civil disobedience.

However, last Friday those records were expunged in a ceremony honoring the two surviving members of that protest. Their case had gone all the way to the Supreme Court, before having their convictions tossed out just days before the Civil Rights Act was signed into law in 1964. Despite that, their arrest records still remained until last Friday.

7 Secrets To Create Affiliate Banners That Drive Conversions

If you’ve been pouring time and resources into newsletters and email blasts with little to show, it’s time for a strategy pivot. Enter the unsung hero of affiliate marketing: Banner Ads. Yes, those vibrant, clickable pieces of art that you’ve probably been ignoring.

The Visual Advantage

People are visual creatures, just hoping for your audience to read a wall of text is a quick way to be ignored. But a well-designed banner ad? That’s a click magnet. We’re talking high-res images, compelling CTAs, and a dash of brand personality—all bundled into one neat package.

One Size Fits All? Nope!

The beauty of banner ads is their versatility. You can use them on your website, social media, or even in your emails. There is no need to reinvent the wheel for each platform. Efficiency, people!

Tips for Banner Brilliance

  1. Keep it simple. Less is more. Your banner ad isn’t a novel. It’s a billboard. Make every pixel count.

  2. A killer CTA is your golden ticket. Make it pop, and they will click. It’s that simple.

  3. Know your audience, use tools like heatmaps to understand your audience’s behavior. Tailor your ads to their interests, and watch those conversions soar.

  4. Quality matters. A pixelated image is a conversion killer. Invest in high-res graphics that align with your brand’s aesthetic.

  5. Where you place your ad is as crucial as what’s in it. Prime real estate is above the fold or nestled within engaging content.

  6. Use tracking campaigns to measure your ad’s performance. Knowledge is power, and in this case, it leads to better ROI.

  7. Tools like Google Web Designer and Canva are your best friends. High-quality design without breaking the bank? Yes, please!

The Bottom Line

Banner ads are your secret weapon in the affiliate marketing arsenal. They’re not just visually appealing; they’re conversion machines. So why settle for mediocre when you can go for extraordinary?

The Battle Continues At Boeing

Boeing continues to bleed.

The machinist union, which has been on strike for over a month, has voted against a new labor deal that included 35% wage increases over four years. The strike has halted most of the company’s aircraft production, which is centered in the Seattle area. The contract was rejected by 64% of the workers, which is another major setback for the company.

Boeing has stated that it will continue to burn cash through 2025 and has reported a $6 billion quarterly loss, its largest since 2020. According to S&P Global Ratings, the strike is costing Boeing about $1 billion per month.

After years of safety and quality problems, new CEO Kelly Ortberg has placed reaching an agreement with the machinists as a priority to get Boeing back on track.

“My focus is getting everybody looking forward, get them back to work, improve that relationship,” said Ortberg. He also laid out his vision for the future of the company, which might include slimming down the company to focus on core businesses. He announced that Boeing will be cutting 10% of its global workforce earlier this month.

Workers have been pushing for higher pay as living costs around Seattle have grown enormously. A major sticking point is for Boeing to build their next factory in the same area since Boeing moved all 787 Dreamline production to a non-union facility in South Carolina.

“We have made tremendous gains in this agreement. However, we have not achieved enough to meet our members’ demands,” said Jon Holden, president of IAM District 751. He also stated that the union will be pushing to go back to the negotiating table.

X Under Fire For New Terms of Service

Don’t want AI to train on what you post on X? Well, you don’t have a choice now.

X’s newest terms of service, which will go into effect on November 15th, will allow AI to train on user data.

“By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through the Services, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to make your Content available to the rest of the world,” it states in the new ToS, which also includes the right to analyze any of that content “including, for example, for use with and training of our machine learning and artificial intelligence models, whether generative or another type.”

Using content to train AI has been a huge sore spot as the technology continues to grow. Many people, especially artists, on X have been worried about their work being used or adapted. Others seem to be concerned that AI will use personal data in their tweets to train.

Grok, which is X’s AI chatbot, has already been hit with controversy, from spreading false information about the 2024 election to generating violent, graphic fake images of famous politicians. Previously, users could opt out of allowing AI to train on their content. It is unclear if that option will remain available after the changes go into effect.

Those who take issue with the changes could find themselves in a courtroom that is favored by conservative activists. Within the terms, it states that any disputes will be brought to the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas or state courts in Tarrant County, Texas.

Diet And Lifestyle Tips To Support Bone Health

Osteoporosis is no joke. One in three women and one in five men over 50 will face an osteoporotic fracture. Imagine a minor fall turning into a major life event. Scary, right? But hold on, there’s a silver lining!

First off, don’t forget your milk. Calcium is the building block of bones and a VIP in the health club. Dairy’s your go-to—milk, cheese, yogurt. Plant-based? No worries. Almond milk and soy yogurt have got you covered. And don’t forget the underdogs: hard-set tofu and dark leafy greens.

Calcium’s cool, but it won’t solve all of your bone-related problems on its own. Team it up with protein, magnesium, and phosphorus. Fruits, veggies, legumes, and lean proteins are your squad here. Balance is key, people!

Vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin, is your bones’ best friend. But let’s be real, the sun’s not always out. So, pop a Vitamin D supplement, especially in those gloomy winter months. And for our darker-skinned and expecting friends, make it a year-round habit.

Exercise isn’t just for those washboard abs. It’s a bone fortifier. Weight-bearing exercises like jogging and muscle-strengthening ones like Pilates are your go-to. So, get off that couch and jump around!

Limit alcohol and kick the smoking habit. We know it sounds like this is recommended for any health trend, but lowering the unhealthy things you indulge in can help your bones in a major way!

Quick Recap

  1. Load up on calcium.

  2. Eat a balanced diet.

  3. Don’t skimp on Vitamin D.

  4. Exercise like you mean it.

  5. Just say no to smoking and excessive drinking.
