Domino’s Pizza shares have surged nearly 8% after Berkshire Hathaway announced a new stake in the pizza chain through a regulatory filing. The firm famously led by Warren Buffet bought more than 1.2 million shares which is around $550 million according to information from the end of September.

On the other hand, the firm has nearly dissolved its position in Ulta Beauty, a beauty retailer. Ulta’s shares have slid nearly 4%.

Palantir Technologies announced that it will transfer its stock exchange listing from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to Nasdaq, and in response, they have added nearly 4% to its share prices. The company will continue to trade under the same ticker but expects to meet requirements to be listed in the Nasdaq 100.

Semi-conductors, it has been a huge year in this industry. However, Applied Materials, a manufacturer, has fallen 5% after they announced a weak revenue outlook for the current quarter. The company is anticipating revenue of $7.15 billion which is below the estimated $7.225 billion from analysts polled by LSEG.

Last but not least, many vaccine maker stocks have continued to slide since the election of Donald Trump. In addition, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent vaccine skeptic, was selected as Trump’s secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. Big names like Moderna and Pfizer were ones listed among the red.

Ads Are Making Their Way Into Your Streaming Services

Two years after being launched the ad-supported Netflix subscription tier has reached 70 million global monthly users. According to the company, they continue “to see positive momentum and growth across all areas of the business,” and that it’s seen, “steady progress across all countries’ member bases.” Ad-supported tiers will most likely become standard for any paid streaming service as a cheaper option to attract those who don’t want to pay a premium price.

In response, Netflix had been seeing a slowing down in subscriber growth and decided to launch this newer, cheaper tier. Made available in 2022, it looks like the plan paid off. Just in this past quarter, Netflix added 5.1 million subscribers, which beat Wall Street estimates. In total, that makes 282.7 million subscribers across all of Netflix’s different pricing tiers. In their last ad-supported update in May, they reported that the tier had reached 40 million global monthly users. That is nearly double the figure they shared in January.

While the ad market for traditional TV has continued to slow, it seems to be gaining more traction for streaming options. Many media companies are focusing on exploring ad-supported options for their streaming services in order to move their products toward profitability.

Netflix also announced in May that it will no longer partner with Microsoft for its advertising platform, instead deciding to create its own. The platform is currently rolled out in Canada and is planned to be launched in the U.S. by the second quarter of next year.
