Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to generate passive income online. Whether you’re a blogger, influencer, or run an e-commerce store, there are many ways to maximize your affiliate marketing efforts. To help you increase your affiliate revenue, we’ve compiled nine tips from experts in the field. From reviewing products with recurring affiliate commissions to leveraging AI to streamline your content production, these tips are sure to help you grow your affiliate marketing business. By using these tips, you can give your affiliate marketing strategy a defined direction, increase your chances of success, and drive more traffic to your pages.

Tip #1: Review products with recurring affiliate commissions

One of the best ways to scale your affiliate marketing revenue without additional work is to target programs that offer recurring commissions. Instead of getting paid once for a sale you facilitate, you can get paid every month a customer decides to use a service. This starts off slow, but over 6-12 months, you can scale your affiliate revenue without having to increase the amount of affiliate sales you make. Examples of companies that offer recurring affiliate commissions include Jasper.ai, ActiveCampaign and Wishpond.

Tip #2: Opt for relevant keywords for your affiliate content

To give your affiliate marketing content a better chance of ranking well on search engines like Google, it’s crucial to select the appropriate keywords. By conducting keyword research, not only will you have a clearer idea of what to write about, but you’ll also be able to reach a wider audience. To increase your chances of ranking for the right search terms, it’s important to use a combination of short tail keywords (single words related to your topic), long tail keywords (multiple words related to your topic), and key phrases (entire sentences or questions someone might search for related to your topic). By using online research tools to identify relevant keywords for your content, you’ll be able to give your affiliate marketing strategy a defined direction and increase the chances of success for your content.

Tip #3: Write review and comparison content

The creation of review and comparison content is a popular and effective high ROI affiliate marketing activity. The idea is to create content that compares different products and services in a particular niche, and then include affiliate links to the products being reviewed. This type of content is valuable to the audience as it helps them make informed purchasing decisions. These posts generally convert better into sales in comparison to normal informational posts.

Tip #4: Build backlinks towards pages tackling commercial intent keywords

Creating backlinks towards pages that tackle commercial intent keywords can greatly boost SEO performance. Commercial intent keywords are those that indicate an intent to purchase, such as “buy” or “discount”. Consider creating content around these terms, as well as leveraging influencers and industry leaders for backlinking purposes. The caveat of this approach is that you should ensure backlinks are coming from high quality sources. Some factors to consider when prospecting websites for backlinks include domain rating, total organic search traffic and spam score.

Tip #5: Interlink your money pages.

My affiliate marketing tip is simple but very effective when done right. Pick the affiliate, monetizable content to which you’re going to build backlinks. Let’s say you have ten of such articles. Then, before actually starting link building go through each post and add 9 internal links to other members in that cluster of ten. Then, wherever you get a link to any of the ten pages, the receiving page gets the largest, primary boost of trust and power, but other nine pages get a secondary boost from that equity that trickles down via internal links you set up earlier. This technique is powerful because you only have to set it up once, and it works for you on its own from there. Much faster and higher rankings overall.

Tip #6: Leveraging AI to streamline a content production line

Content is king. This statement is true across all online businesses and ventures, including affiliate marketing. The primary way people make affiliate income is through blog articles. Artificial intelligence (AI) writing tools are the future of writing because they can help you create more enjoyable and informative content (AI writing tools help to cut down on research), but also at a much faster rate than writing by yourself. This means your content production line is streamlined, and you can pump out affiliate marketing articles with profitable affiliate links faster than ever. Use an AI writing tool such as ChatGPT, Jasper, Copy.AI, or any of the dozens of other AI writing assistants available to get more affiliate content out faster and increase your exposure, click rate, and, ultimately, your affiliate income.

Tip #7: Use multiple channels to drive traffic

One of the worst mistakes affiliates make is relying totally on one channel. A single change in an algorithm can make or break your business if you rely on one channel. This is because it limits the number of potential customers, and if the channel experiences any changes, you would be unable to reach out to any other potential customers in other channels. It is important to diversify your marketing efforts to protect yourself from any changes and to build consistency in your traffic.

Tip #8: Build an email list

Having an email list allows you to keep in touch with your customers and potential customers. You can use it to promote products, services or affiliate offers. Algorithms are always subject to change and you can be removed from any platform at any time. Your email list serves as your backup and it’s a reliable channel to get recurring affiliate sales for any of your products. Additionally, it gives you the ability to track customer behavior and preferences, so you can tailor your promotions and offers to their interests.

Tip #9: Email Authentication for building brand credibility

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is a valuable tool for affiliate marketers because it helps protect their brand reputation and email deliverability. By implementing DMARC, marketers can ensure that only legitimate emails from their domain are sent, reducing the risk of fraudulent or spoofed emails being sent from their domain. This helps protect their brand from phishing scams and other malicious activities, which can negatively impact their reputation and hurt their ability to effectively reach customers through email. Additionally, DMARC provides detailed reporting on email activity and can provide insights into which email addresses are being used to send messages from their domain. This information can be used to monitor affiliate behavior and ensure that they are adhering to email best practices, further protecting the brand.
